Pumbaa Got His Hot Summer Adventure

This is the hottest July in history!!! Almost a month of consecutive high temperature around 40 degrees!!! The ground of People's Square, the most famous landmark in Shanghai, has turned itself into a BBQ set, as it's reported that a piece of one-centimetre-thick meat can be 60% cooked after about 5min exposure under the sun!!! If you are still in the mood, you can do some seasoning on it and add an egg!!! oh, a meal has done!!!

Such sizzling weather can not burn out Pumbaa's zeal for exploration!!! He got a prison-break but only ended by falling into a bucket full of water!!! Pumbaa must have used Timon as the stepstone so that he could get out!!! What a pity I didn't catch that!!!

Here are some new discoveries: They can recognize me!!! Every time I enter the room where they "reside", they just stretch out their necks as if they know it's me--the one brings them meals!!! To keep them healthy, I follow the "more meals, less amount" diet. So they have three meals a day. When they get hungry, they show their hunger by ceaselessly crawling as if they would not stop till you feed them!!! haaa, they are more cunning now!!! They are spoiled!!!
Another discovery: They are not stupid as reptiles are supposed to be!!! I used my hairpin to tease them to see whether they would take this as their food. Well, at first, they got hooked. But 5 or 10 minutes later, they gave no look on it!!! They are so clover!!! And the next day when I did the same trick, they remembered that is the hairpin,not the food they can bite!!! They have memory!!! They can learn!!! 

Look, they sometimes kiss each other!!! What a couple!!! Well, when they are hungry, they wouldn't be so nice. Pumbaa often robs Timon's share!!! That's why Timon is not big as Pubaa, I guess!!!

My Turtles Have Something

Look, Pumbaa can do push-ups, vertical ones!!! 
Much more interesting is when I focus on Pumbaa, Timon's head popped up aside, by taking jolly steps towards my camera as if saying:"Emm, what's this??? Ooh, it's a camera!!! Hey, give me a shot!!!" She couldn't mistake the camera as her shrimp at all, could she!!! I really want to set a camera on them 24 houes a day 7 days a week, cause they are super super cute, and I can watch them for hours and hours!!!
My little turtles are not just reptile, they really, definitely, 100% true more than that!!! They have facial expressions which can be recognized through their eyes: sometimes eagerness, sometimes carelessness or boring or tiresome, sometimes curiosity~~ 
I always believe that animals have superpowers that beyond human's imagination!!! Those who take them reptile are reptile themselves!!!

But, I doubt their eyesight, especially Pumbaa's!!! He can't distinguishes shrimp from Timon's limbs and even her neck!!! He bites Timon sometimes, which is never on Timon's will-do list!!! 

One more trait from Pumbaa is his seemingly endless crawling which can fatigue me instead!!! He just crawls forward and forward and forward!!!

Since to teach them how to hunt is still on my agenda, I figure out this way: Let shrimp, dead one, move in a zigzag way, then, my turtles can catch them!!! That really works!!! As growing bigger, they can swallow a WHOLE shrimp!!!

Every Creature Is Unique

Every creature on earth is unique!!! There is difference between two turtles living in one basin. 

Lady first. Timon is a lady, most of the time!!! She usually prefers to bathing in the water just the same as we do in a hot spring. She is quiet, most of the time!!! She likes stretching her limbs just the same we girls do yoga. But when she senses there is food somewhere, you will see: her focused eyes, out-stretching neck, cautiously peddling limbs towards the victim, but not a slice of lady-like behaviour at all!!! Once catch it, it's a quick run to prevent being robbed by Pumbaa!!! Haaa~~just the same big cats ambush their prey in the wildness!!! I'm so glad that such thought of grab every opportunity to full her stomach is in her DNA!!! 
When meal time, she will take a bite, whatever it's my finger or the shrimp, to show her eagerness of eating, and then waiting for serving!!! As if she is saying:"I'm the Princess. I shall be served!!!" When there is 80% fill in her stomach, she will ignore your feeding and starts this circle: swimming for a while--rolling her eyes--biting a bit!!! That is why she got the nickname of "Stinky cunning"!!!

Pumbaa's nickname is "Stinky dumb". Because he always want to do "Prison Break"!!! While Timon is taking leisure time, he is crawling all the time. Maybe he wants to take some adventure. I don't know why until recently I find he will be quiet after a long "walk"---like dogs do when asking for an outside walk!!! 

So they are almost the same in appearance, but totally different in nature!!!

Their New House

Today is a dig day for Timon and Pumbaa!!! They get a new, shining, 360-degree-view house with a tropical tree and a large swimming pool!!!

Look, they are exploring every and each corner of this house!!!

It seems Pumbaa quickly found his comfortable zone!!!

Stuffed, Sleeping, Stronger

31st March: Woken up from their long hibernation period, they got their first dip of water. Timon (the female one) used it to wash her face;while Pumbaa (the male one) drank a lot!!! 
Timon got her first fart this year, and had a palm face for it!!! 

Then I decided to give them each a nail-treatment. Well, Timon, that girl, enjoyed it very much; But I guess Pumbaa hated it, because he screamed in silence--AAAAAAH!!!

14th April: With the warmer weather, Timon started biting shrimp. And she remembered the silver tool I used to fed her last year!!! 
Pumbaa still hadn't the appetite. Instead, he showed his male character by patrolling his territory and, sometimes, stared at me with a tilting head which is so cute!!!

29th April: It was Pumbaa's turn to start biting. Under the mild sunshine, Timon could fall in sleep within 10 seconds after a full meal. Her slogan may be "Stuffed,Sleeping, and Stronger!!!"

During the whole month of May, I tried to teach them how to prey which was failed due to swift movements from the prey part(actually they were bouncing). Shortly, Timon got tired of such vain chasing and set out her angry towards me by biting my finger. That hard bite from such a little thing--only 5 or 6 centimetre in diameter can hurt me at least 30 seconds!!!

According to my observation, animals have a sort of "superpower" that can tell the good and the evil!!! My appearance to them might mean "oh, food is coming!!!" or "It's time for crawling!!!"

It's July now, and the temperature climbs high!!! Their appetite grow bigger!!! But, still, they have picky mouths, especially, Timon!!! Shrimp is the only thing they eat.

New Chapter On My Turtles

As every tale begins likes this: Long ago and far away, there is an island near the land of America. On that beach, hundreds and thousands baby turtles broke their eggs and rushed forward the sea!!! But four of them found it's no fun to go with others as they rushed towards sewage pipes underground!!! And thanks to human wastes, they turned themselves into the four legendary Ninja Turtles!!!

Well, not long ago--just about one and half year ago (in winter time), and not far away--only few blocks from my residence. Two baby turtles were put into a plastic bag and brought home!!! They are  Timon and Pumbaa!!! They were only three centimetre in diameter. Tiny, and hibernating!!! This is how they started to share their lives with me!!!

Due to lack of the knowledge of turtles-raising, I were always making disturbs to their hibernation by putting them into the water and trying to feed them and pulling their limbs out!!! Anyway, they survived that winter. Only Pumbaa suffered an eye ailment and lost a tile at the bottom!!! He recovered quickly and is in good health now^^
