Last Glance On The Balcony

The year 2020 is so extraordinary to people around the world, and even my two turtles are no exceptional--Due to local housing demolishing and relocation, my residential block and nearby ones will be shaped into God-knows place. And my villa-standard balcony will not be roamed by my Timon and Pumbaa any more!!!

That is to say, after their hibernation, Timon and Pumbaa will encounter new environment where there might not be plants and not so spacious!!!

So, I got them some shots on the balcony for a little stop on their life trajectory!

After another round of shrimp-biting and sun-bathing as their usual activities, Timon and Pumbaa are sooo big now--see those thick and hard shell and chubby limbs!!!

New Round Of Hibernation

New Round Of Hibernation

Such a long interval between my last blog on my two super cute turtles!!!

My Timon and Pumbaa went through a extremely hot summer, again!!! The steaming weather seemed have a negative impact on their appetite!!! They are a little bit less during those smoking hot days!!!

A little disappointment to me this year is that Timon who is within the age range of egglaying didn't lay any!!!

Anyway, they are still healthy!!!
And, now, they are entering into their new round of hibernation period!!!

See, the naughty Timon sitting on the back of Pumbaa enjoying the warm sunshine!!!

Here is the the Timon with her chubby front limbs!!!

Here is the Pumbaa sunbathing!!! He is shedding as you can see, which means he is growing in size!!!

Ready, Seemingly, For The New Season Of Shrimps

As the temperature climbs higher and higher day by day recently, my Timon and Pumbaa have waken from their months-long hibernation!!!

They start to roam around their territory and check if there is any food resource that could intrigues their appetite!!!

Well, actually, they just intake some water to moisture their inner organs and they indeed output some dirty things!!!

So, they are ready for a new season of shrimps, water, courting, and, maybe, I hope there will be eggs!!!

My Timon is at the roughly right size for laying eggs, I think!!!

Fingers crossed!!!

Check Pumbaa's butt!!!

Check Timon's butt!!!

Something During My Turtles' Winter Sleep

As I am always claiming that animals have something!!! They have emotions and they can understand what human say or mean sometimes at least!!!

Take my two not-so-little turtles as the example, they understand what I say to them and know what I mean!!!

Though they are in their hibernation, they still have their paws/claws exercised sometimes!!! And I let them soak themselves in the water at several days interval for they may intake some water and wash something filthy out!!!

Due to their current size and the basin available to them, they have to dip the water one by one!!!

My preference let Timon go into the water first!!!

After her, I found Pumbaa has already niched himself at the corner!!!

It goes like this:"Would you like have a bath before your napping?"

Pumbaa seems hear it and understand it!!!
He showed himself, after a certain period of time due to the nature of turtle's reaction, and stretched out his head as if saying:"It's OK!!!"

So Pumbaa got some water and back to his winter sleep along side Timon!!!

They do get each other side by side at the corner!!!

Sooo cute!!!

Timon And Pumbaa's Winter Solstice 2016

Timon and Pumbaa have stop in-taking food for about two months!!! But they are not quiet!!!

They still explore almost every inch of the floor, say, at every two days interval!!! And they need water to moisture their internal organs! So after they suck into water, they set theirselves down for a while and then find a place to sleep, or, to put it in an actual way, to take a nap!!!

Here is Timon with my little flower

Here is Pumbaa with my little flower

Below are the pictures taken on the winter solstice day this year(2016)!!!

My Lovely Turtles Are Ready For Their Annual Winter Sleep

My lovely Chubby Turtles

My Timon and Pumbaa follow their rutine of life as usual!!!

They eat! Most of the time their food is the shrimps, and sometimes they get minced meat as a special treat!!!
Oh, when they are hungary, they fight for food!!! Timon will hold the shimp in her mouth the moment she gets it and peddle very swiftly as if her kind does this too to bring the food to a safe place to eat in the wild!!! The instinct founctions!!! It's in their DNA!!!

They sunbath! When the sunshine is not so scorching, they are quite enjoying it by their signature pose--the stretching back legs, or the "Plank" in Yoga language!!!

They  crawl/walk! Sometimes, after full meal and a little dose of napping, they just prisonbreak from their basin and crawl around exploring the surroundings by sniffing!!!

This is Timon who has grown into almost the same size as her male parter, Pumbaa!!!

This Pumbaa who has the darker colour than Timon does!!! And he always bite Timon's limbs when he is hungary or has the intention to rob food from Timon's mouth when driven by the instinct!!!

At this time of the year, they have already stopped eating and ready for their winter sleep or hibernation period!!!
And they have chubby limbs after a stuffed summer shimp-intake!!!

The Year Of Shrimp To My Turtles

Maybe cause by the noise from thunder-blowing firecrackers, or by the warm temperature, or by their empty stomachs, Timon and Pumbaa get waken up again this morning--the first day of chinese lunar new year which marks the beginning of the year of horse!!! But, to my two little turtles, there is always the year of shrimp!!! Haaa~~

Just waken from her sweetest dream of a "sea" of shrimp, Timon finds herself laid beside a real one!!! The only thing is it's frozen!!!

"Oooh, I really get one!!! In my dream, those shrimps move too swift to catch!!! But, now, I have got one!!! Though it doesn't move at all!!! I'm still happy with this^^ See, I'm smiling with full content^^"
"Agnes can't get her mouth rest these days, because of all these delicious snacks!!! Well, I don't mind her being fat once a year!!! After all, I've got mine!!!"

"All right, let Pumbaa smell it!!! Only a smell!!!"

After a sip of water, they are dreaming again!!!

Little Break In Their Winter Sleep

Driven by their reptile DNA, Timon and Pumbaa get little break during their winter sleep yesterday when the temperature climbed at 20 degrees.

They just woke up by this unusual warm weather, opened their eyes, made little noise with their paws, as if saying:"What's wrong with the weather??? It shouldn't be so warm at this time of the year!!!"

So, I put them out of their niche, and let them enjoy some sunshine and water!!! They did drink a little!!!

Or, maybe they were woke up by my Christmas gift laid beside them!!!

Look, at first, they were wondering what's going on!!!

This is Pumbaa!!!

Look, the look on Timon when she was looking at Pumbaa!!!

Little Decoration

Well, since my two little turtles want to have their last suck in the water and sunshine, I'd like to take it as the chance to decorate their little den!!! I got them a roof over their heads, and a blanket--Timon takes it as a mat, Pumbaa thinks its a blanket!!!

Maybe it's true that they are not in the mood of resting, because Timon did behave like she wants more movements!!!
Yesterday, I checked their "dent" as I know they are little unsettled. What I found was: Timon, with her running eyes, was looking around and wondering whether this is her dent for a whole winter!!! When she noticed my peering, out of her instinct, she swiftly got some shelter from that piece of cloth I covered over them to keep them enough humidity!!!
Funny, isn't it???

Unsettling Turtles

When the temperature climbs a little bit higher, my two little turtles just think they should have more water and sunshine to restore for the coming winter!!!

This is Timon!!! See how big the shell she has grown into!!! She used to sit in my palm going Yoga!!! But now, my palm can't have any space for her limbs!!!

I thought they were in their hibernation and would not make any movement and sound!!! But it seems that they are unsettling turtles who move a lot in their dreams!!! When they want to poo or drink, they just produce some sound to let you know!!!

See, finally they get in sand and leaves!!! I cover a piece of wet cloth over them to make sure that they have constantly misty air to breath!!!
